WELCOME TO MY BLOG!!!

Hi Everybody!  A lot of you are already thinking “not again.. el Gallo with his crappy new page #$%!. Let me explain :
First, let me apologize to my spanish-speaking friends..
(De corazon señores.. Espero que entiendan que debo hacerlo de esta manera, esto no es “aceite” ni nada de eso.

As you can see.. the page’s up in English. Apart from the obvious reasons (endorsements, festivals, recordings) my previous page was also in English, so in order for all the info to advance and use it as promptly as possible, we just let it remain the same.. (like the song!)
Please check out regularly the news, blog, gallery, sounds and
DR Drumfest sections to keep track of upcoming gigs, new recordings, events, etc. You’ll also find some old stuff and this
time around every link and email will be working correctly..
In this “blog” section I’ll be posting different themes, thoughts and anything that will come out of my “sometimes” crazy agenda..

[::] What a month! I got the chance to play live with one of my favorite new bands in DR .. Marteovenus
We played every Thursday night @ Casa De Teatro and was a lot of fun, lots of friends and great hang.. Their set is based on funk, rock, R&B.. cool songs with green light to stretch!
I did a few recordings in my new studio too ..
Usually August is not the best month, summer is almost over, classes are starting and a lot of the musical gatherings take place during June / July..
We have the success of Casa De Teatro Jazz Festival, speaking of it,
I got to play there with Ramon Vazquez and Jan Carlo Artime..
For those who don’t know these guys, they’re incredible musicians!
Ramon is THE bass player right now and Jan Carlo is a superb pianist on the “stratosphere” of Rubalcaba, Corea, Jarret, but his knowledge of current tendencies such as “ timba, rumba, techno.etc”. all within the latin
tradition makes him very special ..

For me it was a wake up call..

Since that day I’ve been practicing my ass-off everyday.. listening to a lot of music that I stopped listening a while ago and getting in touch with my inner clock.. It was one of those moments when you realize that you have to work some things in your playing immediately (don’t get me wrong, we as drummers work in our playing everyday!) but, you know what I’m saying… Apart from it, in those days my wife and I received the greatest gift of all, our beautiful baby daughter Amelia.. so, you can imagine .. NO sleep (still haven’t slept!) and my playing, definitely got “crazy” like my sleeping hours.. as I said.. August is not the best month!
